2022-2023 Concert Season
Welcome to the 2022-2023 Season of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band! This year we look forward with great excitement to our upcoming concert season. Please see our tentative show schedule. This season will mark 38 years since Jack Mercer came out of retirement to form an alumni band of forty-two musicians. Currently, the membership of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band is comprised of a wide variety of occupations from doctors, lawyers, dentists, mechanics, educators, and other professions.
Gabe with Aimee Nolte just before the "Swinging with Aimee and the Show Band" concert on September 9th, 2019!! Aimee put on quite a show! Thank you Aimee!!
For almost four decades the Show Band has been performing one free concert a month for the Greater Ontario Community, bringing in an array of talented guest artists as well as providing musical performances for various city-sponsored events. The Show Band is directed by Dr. Gabe Petrocelli, esteemed composer, arranger, and conductor, and two assistant conductors: Mr. David Schaafsma and Mr. Patrick Arnold.
The Show Band continues to grow as we add tremendous new talent to our band. We feature many of our own musicians as conductors, vocal and instrumental soloists, and also welcome a talented array of guest artists to our programs on a regular basis.
We're excited to start this season on Monday, September 26th in historic Gardiner Spring auditorium located on the campus of Chaffey High School. The concert theme "Music in Orbit" will feature Dr. Sylvia Mann, Composer and Conductor of the Southland Symphony Orchestra, Show Band Musicians Natasha Le and Francisco Mowatt, and Assistant Director Patrick Arnold. Guest artists featured throughout the 2022-23 season will include Martene Craig and her Arise Bell Ringers, renown percussionist and educator Homero Chavez, Rock n' Roll singer of yesteryear Ron Ellington Shy, vocalists Victor Garnica, Dr. George Matamala, and others.
The Ontario Chaffey Show Band relies on the generous donations of sponsors and financial support from the City of Ontario to help keep our programs running. Additionally, a non-profit organization called "The Friends of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band" helps to provide assistance to the Show Band.
